May Day

Illustration in woodcut print style. Left panel shows a worker and is labeled 8 hours for work. Middle panel is someone sleeping, labeled 8 hours for rest. Right panel is people relaxing on a boat, one reading a newspaper. It is labeled 8 hours for what we will.I don’t know the origin of this poster. I do believe it is old. 100 years? 144 years? If I had more time for “What We Will” maybe I would do some research.

For now, here’s a link to a post on Medium written in 2017 on some of the history around the 8-hour workday.

Movie Night!

Experiencing “heavy issues” overload? Time to let off some pressure!

On Tuesday, March 18, during Women’s History Month, join us for a full screen showing of the hilarious 1980 hit film 9 to 5! You’ll leave laughing at having watched three smart, spunky women teach their boss some needed lessons.

This event is a fundraiser for the William D. McIntyre Scholarship. Social time featuring free refreshments begins at 6 pm, and the movie is at 7. See the attached poster for more details. If you can’t attend the event but would like to donate, please go to https://johnson.wyodems.net/mcintyre for more information. Thanks, and we’ll hope to see you there!

PS. If you would like to donate finger food to share that evening, please let us know what you’re bringing.
