The Johnson County Democratic Party welcomes all Johnson County Democrats registered 5 days prior to March 7, 2026, to attend our County Convention on March 7, 2026, at the Johnson County Library, 171 North Adams Ave in Buffalo, WY, beginning at 10:00 am. Doors will open at  9:30 am.

The business of the County Convention includes election of delegates to the Wyoming Democratic Party Convention. Attendees may also discuss and consider adoption of changes to the state and county party platforms and other resolutions.

February 3, 2026

Call to Order: 6:02

Agenda:

Agenda approved.

The group introduced themselves to new faces.

Minutes:

January 6, 2026 minutes approves.

Treasury Report:

The current financial status was presented by the treasurer.

Miscellany:

• SCC meeting on March 14-  proxy volunteered on need-be basis
• Newsletter mail program- returned letters addressed with plan to get to subscribers. A new potential mail program was discussed.

Old Business:

• County convention- March 7 at 10am with doors opening at 9:30am. Motion made and passed to auction items at event for fundraiser.
• Ad for county convention discussed with motion made and passed to publish advertisement in local paper with minor edits to the draft.
• Committees- purposes discussed and explained (credentials, platform and resolutions)
• State convention- June 6- potential delegates and alternates discussed.

New Business:

• Community garden ideas thrown around briefly.
• Wyoming Democratic Party bylaws- discussion regarding the need to adjust and update on wyodems.org by June convention.

Other Business:

• Inspiring words given by chair regarding potential to shape perception of Democratic Party based on large misunderstandings of what people perceive it to be.

Announcements:

• Information about last minute protest that took place as well as community involvement.
• Information on silent vigils taking place in Sheridan for deaths related to ICE.

Call to order:

Meeting was called to order at 6:04. Five voting members present.

Minutes:

December 2, 2025 minutes approved.

Agenda:

Agenda approved with no additions.

Treasury Report: 

The current financial status of the JC Dems was presented by the treasurer.

Miscellany:

• Legislative Watch Bootcamp- information given on an event coming up that will provide information on how to take action as a registered democratic voter in Wyoming.
• LWVWY Petition- a zoom event was held that shared ideas amongst county leaders regarding potential action that state and local democrats can take as well as how to expand the organization. Brief discussion held about young democratic voters and involvement.
• Thank you cards sent to the JC Dems were shared.

Old Business:

• County Convention- discussion regarding the upcoming county convention that will open community involvement for the local government as well as potential involvement at a state level. Information given on how to prepare for and participate in the convention, including proposing platforms. Motion made and passed to utilize funds for a newspaper ad with a set maximum amount to give information and advertise event to the public.
• State Convention to take place in June with JC delegates sent to participate.

• GOTV calendar- updates to come regarding state party work for upcoming election.
• County convention- opportunity for local democrats to have a say in how the party is shaped.

• Report was made on the turnout and success of the WDMSF movie night fundraiser,
• Newsletter responses discussed.

New Business:

• March convention- motion made and passed to skip March monthly meeting and combine with convention on March 7. A follow up motion made and passed to allow chair to make final decision regarding which room will be utilized for the event. A motion made and passed to hold the event at 10am.
• Candidates and election calendar- information given regarding upcoming 2026 election and looking at recruiting candidates to run/ stand for local Democratic Party.

• Discussion and planning around Nov 15 movie night fundraiser. Movie synopsis, raffle ticket sales and item coordination, family/child friendly, snack donations requested, concessions open during seating and screening.
